Double Bass

Andrea Dominijanni

He graduated from the Conservatory "S. Pietro a Majella" in Naples in 1984, under the guidance of Maestro Nicola Buonomo, with highest honors. He then completed his training with the study of Composition, Piano, Cello and Conducting, also concluding his legal studies at the "Federico II" University, again with top marks. He participated in the Fiesole Courses with Maestro Petracchi and subsequently won various competitions and awards (First Double Bass of the Tuscany Regional Orchestra; First Double Bass of the Orchestra A. Toscanini of Parma; E.C.Y.O. Competition 1984/85...). "Primo" in various Italian orchestras, he also carried out an intense solo and chamber music activity, also participating, for two years in a row, in the European Community Orchestra, with which he toured several times around the world, playing in the most prestigious halls with the most important conductors of our time (Abbado, Bernstein and Dorati, among others...).

As an author he has written, in addition to a manual of "Pure Technique," numerous pieces, transcriptions and arrangements for the Double Bass and for various instrumental ensembles.

As a teacher, he began, at just 22 years old, to teach at the Conservatory, obtaining shortly afterwards the "tenure" for the professorship he later held at the Conservatories of Cosenza, Trieste, Brescia, and Vicenza.
