A. Steffani Conservatory Orchestra
The Conservatory Symphony Orchestra is a project involving all students of the instrument classes of the "Agostino Steffani" Conservatory of Music in Castelfranco Veneto. Conducted by Prof. Roberto Zarpellon, the orchestra offers annually different musical programs from the great classical tradition. The concert activity is intertwined with various socio-cultural and educational initiatives, thus offering students the opportunity to perform and gain important professional experience.
The musical program to be performed in the June 28 concert, in the picturesque setting of Ischia's Greek Theater, also includes Beethoven's Seventh Symphony, one of the best known and most important orchestral compositions. For young people to understand the spirit of this music means being able to base their professionalism on a secure foundation. Music is not just a set of well-coordinated and structured sounds, but expresses and contains within itself a profound message; in this case, a strong appeal to universal values. It is no coincidence that the anthem of a united Europe is a composition by Beethoven.
The opera pieces on offer represent that heritage that identifies Italy in the world; and well demonstrated by the number of foreign students, particularly those from the East, studying in the singing classes of our conservatories.
The Conservatory of Music of Castelfranco Veneto "Agostino Steffani" is renowned for the value of its teachers, a good percentage of whom are musicians regularly present in the world's best-known concert halls, and consequently students who always manage to distinguish themselves in competitions.
Over the years, the Conservatory has been able to attract foreign teachers of the highest level in order to perfect students' education in music and beyond. Meetings with M° Markus Placci from the Boston Conservatory, pianists Andrea Lucchesini, Filippo Gamba, master classes with "I solisti del vento" from Antwerp, harpist Gabriella Dall'Olio, etc., are worth mentioning.
