Stefano Canazza

He studied at the Conservatories of Verona and Brescia, earning academic degrees in Organ, Choir Direction and Composition.

Winner of national competitions for teaching Composition, Music Didactics and Organ, he has been teaching permanently since 1995 at Italian state conservatories of music: Salerno, Palermo, Potenza, Adria, Verona, Castelfranco Veneto (Treviso).

Since 2006, he has held the chair of Elements of Composition at the State Conservatory of Music "A. Steffani" in Castelfranco Veneto (TV).

Some of his compositions have been published by a number of music publishers. In the field of extra-teaching production, at the Conservatory of Potenza and with the University of Salerno he collaborated, together with the Department of Music Didactics a publication "Music - History - Knowledge: for a didactics of the arts through the centuries" (MIUR 2002).

As an organist, harpsichordist and composer since 1992, he has devoted himself to concert activity, holding concerts for important international Festivals and Reviews in Italy and abroad

He has recorded and released some Compact Discs for various record labels.

In 1999, he was a speaker for the Palermo CIMS (Sicilian Music Archives) in the "Meetings with Composers" event.

Since April 2011 and until 2014, he has been a member of the Board of Directors of the "A. Steffani" Conservatory of Music in Castelfranco Veneto (Treviso), as a faculty representative.

Since May 2015, he has been on the roll of Evaluation Experts for Higher Education in Art and Music at the National Agency for Evaluation of the University System and Research (ANVUR). Reconfirmed in 2018 and 2025 as a Disciplinary Expert.

Since February 2023, he has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Conservatorio "A. Steffani" in Castelfranco Veneto (Treviso), as a faculty representative.

Since December 2023, he has been appointed as an external expert member of the Evaluation Board of the "G. Martucci" Conservatory of Music in Salerno.

Since November 2024, as an expert, he has been appointed by the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Bulgaria as a member of the Artistic Council of the Bulgarian Academy of Art and Culture "Boris Christoff" - Rome

In November 2016, he was elected director of the "A. Steffani" Conservatory of Music in Castelfranco Veneto (Treviso). Reelected in 2019 for the three-year term 2019-2022.

From 2018 to 2020, he served as President of the Consortium formed among the seven State Music Conservatories of Veneto. As Director of the Conservatory, he was elected as a member of the Board of Directors of the National Conference of Conservatory Directors.

In November 2018, he was appointed by the Minister of Education, Universities and Research as a member of the Commission for the Drafting of the Code of Legislation on School, University, High Artistic, Musical and Choreographic Education and Research, established at the MIUR.

Since January 29, 2020, he has been the artistic director for the Opera and Concert Season of the "Mario Del Monaco" Municipal Theater in Treviso (recognized by the Ministry of Culture as a Theatre of Tradition - pursuant to Art. 28, Law No. 800 of August 14, 1967). Coordinates and defines the opera and concert programming and the annual and three-year project for application to the Single Entertainment Fund.

Organized and resumed in 2021 the organization of the "Toti Dal Monte" International Singers' Competition in 2021, 2022, and now in 2024 its 51st edition.
