Domenico Nordio

Domenico Nordio has played in many prestigious halls (Carnegie Hall in New York, Salle Pleyel in Paris, St. Petersburg Philharmonic, Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Barbican Center in London, and Tokyo's Suntory Hall), with major orchestras, such as the London Symphony, the National de France, the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome, the RAI National Orchestra, the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the Caracas Simon Bolivar Orchestra, the Istanbul Borusan Philharmonic Orchestra, the Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra, the SWR Sinfonieorchester Stuttgart, the Moscow State Symphony, conducted by Flor, Steinberg, Casadesus, Luisi, Lazarev, Aykal.

Highlights of recent seasons' engagements include concerts at the Enescu Philharmonic in Bucharest, Teatro Municipal in Rio de Janeiro, Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, Zorlu Center in Istanbul, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Philharmonics in Kiev, Chisinau, Vilnius, Moscow, the Great Guild Hall in Riga, the Sociedad Filarmonica in Lima, Sao Paulo Hall in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Teatro Manzoni in Bologna, Melbourne Recital Hall, Vigado Concert Hall in Budapest, Tbilisi Festival, Zaryadye Hall in Moscow, and Auditorium del Sodre in Montevideo.

A pupil of Corrado Romano and Michele Auclair, born in Venice in 1971, already a child prodigy (he gave his first recital at the age of ten), at sixteen Nordio won the Viotti International Competition in Vercelli, with the legendary Yehudi Menuhin as jury president.

After successes at the Thibaud Competition in Paris, the Sigall in Vina del Mar and the Francescatti Competition in Marseilles, the 1988 Eurovision Grand Prix launched his international career: today Nordio is one of the most celebrated violinists of his generation.
