Francesco Ganassin

Instrumentalist (clarinet, bass clarinet), composer and improviser, he is at the center of projects of international scope with New Landscapes, 2 Grains, Rituals, Roots, Heptagroove, Hattusha, Popular Orchestra of the Dolomites, Ottomani, Arsenale, Trio Adriatica, Calicanto. He has over thirty record releases to his credit (Visage Music, Caligola Records, Cierre, Azzurra, Felmay).
He has given concerts all over Europe: Kaustinen Music Festival, Festival Interceltico do Morrazo, Nuoro Jazz, Bologna jazz, Bergamo Jazz, Pisa Jazz, Segovia Folk, Tradicionarius Barcelona, Fira Mediterrania de Manresa, Stranger than Paranoia Festival, International Bagpipe Festival of Scapoli, Ca'Pesaro Museum of Oriental Art, Notte della Taranta, Trad.It! Groningen, Mandopolis, De Ruimte Amsterdam, Middle East Technical University Ankara, Corum Hittite University, Itinerari Folk, Aplec Folk, Musikè, Musikfestspiele Potsdam Sanssouci, MITO SettembreMusica, Dolomiti Contemporanee, Venice Biennale, etc.
With Calicanto won the Prix Coup de Coeur of the Academie Charles Cros (Paris, F, art dir. Henry Dutilleux) for Isole senza mar CD, recognized as one of the four best world music productions on the world scene in 2006. With Eptagroove I won in the Arts Prize (Afam - MIUR) for jazz ensembles, in 2010.
As an expert and specialist in ethnic woodwinds, he collaborates with soundtrack composers (Henry Wan Man Lai, Nicholas Wright, Sergio Marchesini, Ankit Tiwari, etc.). He has recorded flutes, ocarinas, gralla, ciaramella, duduk for the soundtrack of Daniel Lee's kolossal Dragon Blade.
He composes and performs music for theater, collaborating with Giuseppe Battiston, Andrea Pennacchi, Giuliana Musso, Laura Curino, Marco Baliani, Titino Carrara, Ermanno Cavazzoni, Vasco Mirandola, Massimo Cirri, Mirko Artuso, and many others.
He creates small sound entities from everyday objects and electronics, which become an integral part of his live performances, or take on an autonomous, standalone life as small works of sound art and interactive sound installations. He is part of the D20 ArtLab collective.

An expert in innovative and inclusive education, he is the creator of sound discovery paths for children, called Pìnfate! He holds workshops for large ensembles (All-In Orchestra). He has taught as an adjunct professor in various Italian conservatories: Jazz Clarinet (Adria), Traditional Music (Padua, Mantua), Ear Training (Rovigo).
