Graduated from the conservatory "A.Steffani" in Castelfranco Veneto in jazz guitar with highest honors. Lino Brotto deepened his study of jazz with Battista Lena, Tomaso Lama, Antonio Cavicchi and Sandro Gibellini. In '93 he won a scholarship to access EEC-funded courses and plays with Maurizio Caldura, Bruno Cesselli, Harold Danko, Mark Egan, Vic Juris, Eliot Zigmud.
In '94 he participated in Siena Jazz where he played with Enrico Rava, receiving a scholarship as best guitarist. In the same year he won a scholarship to join the Bologna Professional Training Orchestra, working with conductors such as Carla Bley, Steve Swallow, Steve Coleman, and Bruno Tommaso.
In '95 he won a scholarship during the Berklee College Of Music (Umbria Jazz) summer courses, thanks to which he spent 9 months in Boston (U.S.A.) and played with Billy Pierce, George Garzone, Mick Goodrick and many others.
In '96 he won first prize in the national jazz competition in Baronissi (SA), also winning the critics' prize as the best national talent.
In'97 he was runner-up in the "Eddy Lang" international competition for jazz guitarists, at Monteroduni (Isernia).
In 2004 he was among the winners of the "Massimo Urbani Interrnational Award" international jazz competition at Camerino (MC) and first overall among guitarists.
In 2006 With the group Alma Swing won the first national jazz music award held by the magazine "Musica jazz" and Porsche Italy.
In 2007 he was awarded the international art award "la Grolla D' oro"-city of Treviso, as Musician of the Year. He has played and recorded with internationally renowned musicians: Lee Konitz, Franco Cerri, Enrico Rava, Bireli Lagrene, Marco Tamburini, Alex Sipiagin, Chris Hunter (Gil Evans Orchestra), Mark Egan (Pat Metheny Orchestra), Mark Egan (Pat Metheny Group), Dominique di Piazza, Gergo Borlai, JAVIER VERCHER, FERENC NEMETH, Hedrien Feraud, Dario Deidda, Paolo Ghetti, Pippo Matino, Bruno Cesselli, Mauro Beggio, Sandro Gibellini, Ares Tavolazzi, Francesco Cafiso, Paolo Birro, Massimo Manzi, Fabrizio Bosso, Phil Mer, Robert Bonisolo, Federico Malaman, Marc Abrams, Francesco Bearzatti, Massimo Chiarella, Oscar Marchioni and Marco Carlesso, and many more. He has performed in Austria, Holland, Germany, France, the United States, Slovenia, and Switzerland at the most important jazz festivals including Umbria Jazz, North sea jazz festival, Milano Jazzmi festivals, and many more.
He has collaborated with the orchestras: "Zero Orchestra" of Pordenone.
