Maurilio Cacciatore's music attempts to combine acoustic instruments with the means of digital music by means of computer programming and the use of electromechanical objects. The result is a complex, multilayered sound texture at the extremes of which classical instruments and pure electronics operate, but which in between makes use of hybrid sonorities associated with unconventional performance techniques. Beyond standard spatialization schemes, Maurilio Cacciatore's setups explore uncoded solutions and creatively integrate heterogeneous hardware, algorithms, and musical content.
The theatrical dimension of the stagings and the onstage integration of music and visual aspects stems from the reflection in the scores of an equal play between the resources in the field. A student of Fabio Cifariello Ciardi and Ivan Fedele, Maurilio Cacciatore earned top grades in Italy, Sweden and France and holds a doctorate cum laude on his music and technology research from the Catholic University of Porto.
